English Official Language

America is the most diverse country. Which means there are many languages. Since people are migrating to America, they should be able to know english and use it. America is being generous enough to even let immigrants in, the least immigrants can do is learn the language of where they can going to be living. This will not only people them get around and feel part of the this country, but can also open many opportunities.Being bilingual with English as one of them, gives you the most advantage to work then other languages. My father is an immigrant and he had to learn english at a young age for schooling and communication in general. Although it was a challenge for him, he was able to communicate with everyone.

  1. I agree I think its essential for everyone to learn the english language if they come to this country but i think that for some its hard because they dedicate themselves working so hard to live here and some don't have the time to learn a whole different language when here in the United states its already diverse and theres signs and stores that are in different languages. I think if some can't speak the language the least thing people can do is try to understand that some can speak the language fluently but most can understand it.

  2. I agree that it is so important to learn English to be able to take advantage of all the opportunities America has to offer. However, I think that making English the national language would take away from part of what makes America so amazing- its diversity and acceptance of other cultures. While it might be naive to say that some English is not necessary to live in America, labeling English as a national language is excluding to the Americans who don't speak English or are not fully fluent in English. Americas culture is made up of multiple cultures, and most countries select the national language that aligns with their culture. I believe that while it is so important for immigrants to learn English or at least some English in order to get jobs, etc, the symbol of having no national language paints the picture of an accepting and diverse America.
