Quitting, the New Way of Dealing With Failure

A 2016 poll from the National Alliance for Youth Sports states that 70% of kids in the United States quit sports by the age of 13. There are is a reason to millions of kids quitting sports every year other than "it's just not fun anymore".

Simply, if one is not good at something, why do it. We are forcing kids to stop what they need work in and pursue in what they already excel at, which takes the fun out of everything. We see it more often than you think. I saw it in every sport I ever played. I saw kids get no playing time all year freshman year of football and then the next fall they are either done with fall sports, or trying something else to find success in. As a kid, it's acceptable to be mediocre or not the best in a sport because there is time and room for improvement. If there is no future or present success, parents and kids are pressured to quit.
