Joe Biden and the 2020 presidential election
Recently there has been a lot of speculation regarding Joe Biden's potential move at replacing Donald Trump in the next presidential elections in 2020. The former vice president formerly said that his son, who died of brain cancer in May of 2015, told him that his dying wish was that after vice president he would not fade away from public office and service to the United States. Biden has made comments like these during his tour that is promoting his book, Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose, that have caused rumors of him returning to public office by ending Donald Trumps presidency. These rumors have come with a lot of support in the democratic party and its supporters however there are concerns over his age and his health regarding family issues such as the loss of his son. Biden has however made a minimal amount of moves compared to other candidates in the buildup to the time of year where most candidates announce their campaigns. However promising words by the man himself have prompted the rumors of him running for president to become more plausible and reasonable. Joe Biden has also recently made multiple comments in interviews such as with vanity fair where he says he "I haven't decided to run, but I've decided I'm not going to decide not to run ". Joe Biden's democratic party members have both advised him to make the move for president and also warned him about it due to age. The Atlantic reported that he told the younger candidates to not hold off and wait for his decision on whether to run or not. His decision affects who else would run for the election because younger candidates may hold off another election due to Biden's popularity as former vice president to a popular president as well as his extensive resume in politics. Joe Biden announced that he felt that he was the most qualified person to run for president in 2020 and would decide whether he would run for the position in the next two months.

I didn't really know that much about considering to run for election and I found this quote from him, "I think I'm the most qualified person in the country to be president. The issues that we face as a country today are the issues that I've worked on my whole life — the plight of the middle class and foreign policy." I think that him being vie president during the Obama presidency would definitely qualify him as a candidate and possibly even future president.
ReplyDeleteJoe Bidin, for my life tim , has been a meme: He and Obama as besties. But he is a well respected man and I think that's what our country needs right now. Sure, he's old, but so is Trump, and so is Bernie Sanders. I was watching Stephen Colbert the other night, and it was sounding like Bernie Sanders is going to run to. What a crazy political time!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I hope that Joe Biden runs. Joe Biden seems to be the most qualified out of the possible Democratic Party candidates. During Obama's tenure as president, Joe Biden has played a large role behind the scenes by negotiating a bipartisan agreement on tax increases and spending cuts.
ReplyDeleteHowever, my belief is that Joe Biden's successes are little known to the American public. It is more likely that Americans only knew of Joe Biden as a very kind person who was Obama's bestfriend.
