Guilty b4 innocent: the story of michael Brown
On August 9th 2014 Michael Brown was walking down the middle of the street with his friend Dorian Johnson. They were approached by officer Darren Wilson of the Ferguson, Missouri police department. While Wilson was still in his car something might have been said by Johnson and Wilson became enraged. Michael Brown was then pulled by Darren Wilson towards his car by his neck, then all of a sudden Wilson pulled his gun out with his left hand reaching out the window. Then, the gun went off and hit Brown in the hand. Brown and Johnson started running away after that because they were in shock as to what was happening. As Brown was running away, Brown had his hands up and appeared to be surrendering according to many witnesses. Then as Brown was saying, "Don't shoot me I don't have anything", Wilson emptied his gun into Michael Brown, still shooting as Brown was laying on the ground. How are you so in danger for an unarmed man the same size as you, who is running away from you to the point where you have to shoot him 10 times? NEVER. In my opinion Wilson murdered Michael Brown in cold blood. I say this because he was in a rage state of mind after he said "what TF did you say", and "Do you know who TF you are talking to"? Wilson shot him because of his mindset not because he felt his life was in jeopardy which is the only time you should shoot someone as a cop. For anyone else if someone says something to you at a party no matter how object able you may feel you cannot murder someone over it.... This brings up the issue that the justice system is supposed to protect everyone equally under the 14th amendment. You are also supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Also, you are not supposed to be deprived of life and liberty without due process of law. Michael Brown was deprived of all of those things without a trial. He was executed before he could argue his innocence in a court of law. To me it is more incriminating for the officer to claim that he knew about the robbery Michael Brown supposedly committed weeks earlier. As far as I am concerned Darren Wilson shot Michael Brown because of his rage and his confirmation bias against Brown not because he was ever in danger for his life, that defense is a total cover up for his crime. Its like Susan Smith's statement that a carjacker came. Cover your tracks using your privilege....
I totally agree with you on your viewpoint of this article. I think that sometimes, people have confirmation biases that keep them from opening their minds and realizing that what they believe might not actually be true. I think this was the case with Officer Wilson. Officer Wilson most likely had a confirmation bias against black people that was already in his brain. This therefore probably kept him from seeing Brown as a human being, and only let him see him as someone who was less than human. The only way that he could feel completely comfortable shooting Brown was if he was either really angry at him, or truly believed that he was a bad person just because he was black. This is the only way Wilson could justify killing Brown in cold blood.
ReplyDeleteI believe he was shot by Wilson because Wilson was agitated, at something said by Dorian.
