University of California v. Bakke
This Supreme Court case is a very complicated one. To summarize, University of California v. Bakke covers two main issues: 1. race, and 2. test scores. Allan Bakke applied to UC Davis twice, and got rejected both times. The interesting thing about this case is that his test scores were much higher than those of the minorities that UC Davis was accepting. Bakke went to court and argued that because he was white, he wasn't accepted to UC Davis. He eventually got the Supreme Court to hear his case, which ended up in Bakke half winning the case. The Court's final opinion was that it was okay to use race as a deciding factor on who was admitted to universities, but it is not okay to use racial quotas to admit people.
