Racism-Is it still as severe today?

When looking at incidents such as Rodney King, it makes us question if something like that were to happen today, how would we treat the situation? I feel that racism is still something that is very much present in areas such as the south, but in major cities it should not be much of an issue anymore. Even though there are still stereotypes that are being passed round, it does not escalate to the point where someone would get beat up for their actions. Today, I feel that even though there are some incidents relating to racism, everything gets died down by the media, or people have been used to it for so long that it does seem as serious. Also, I feel that today people are more intimidated compared to the past when it comes to being racist towards others. With social media, you can get a bad name spread around very quickly. This might be a reason why racism seems to be dying down today.

Overall, I think that racism still exists today at a moderate level but the incidents taken against the non white communities are not as severe as they were back then. The only way to change racism is to change the culture in which people grow up in. These days, people are becoming more and more social with others races so the problems are seeming to die down. However, do you think there will be a time when we get so connected that there will be no racism at all? In my opinion, I feel was the next generation comes in we will get closer and closer together hopefully eliminating racism altogether
